1 - What is the difference between a supporter and a participant?

A supporter is an artist or a band that wishes to support the ideals of this radio endeavour, yet doesn't wish to submit a song for us to play. A participant is someone that submits a song for us to including in our radio playlist. Both are important to us. Without supporters we will never be known, without participants, we won't have any content.

2 - Why should we support this site?

Our endeavour is to bring a variety of music to the public, not just all the popular and famous artists and bands, but the lesser known people as well. It is our experience that the industry goes through phases about what is hot and what is not. As far as we are concerned that just means that not everyone with talent will get heard. We want them heard. The more support we have, the more of the smaller lesser known people we may get to participate.

3 - Why should we participate with this site?

This is virtually once of those endless loops. If you don't participate, then we won't grow. If we don't grow, people won't participate. Since our goal is to bring music to the people, we really need people to participate so that there is music to provide. If you need a reason to justify it, call it an ego stroke, so that our efforts don't feel like they are in vain.

4 - Can we be both a supporter and a participant?

Well, it is really just a matter of semantics. If you are a supporter, that doesn't necessarily mean you are a participant, but if you are a participant, it usually tends to assume you also support our goal. We try to keep the lists seperate, so that people will have an idea of the artists and bands that are participating; but we also want to show that we also have support of artists and bands that aren't participating. But if it would really make you feel better, you can request to be on both lists.

5 - We were a supporter and now wish to participate, what do we do?

Well, all you need to do is submit a song, and you will become a participant. It is as simple as that. In general we will move you from the supporters list to the participants list. Mainly for record keeping. But if you request it, we can leave you on the supporters list as well.

6 - Can we participate without people knowing?

This request is a little more difficult to action. Mainly due to the fact that even if we leave you off the participants list, the artist/band name appear as well as the song name when your song is played. As well as the fact, that you never know who is listening, so someone may recognise you. We can leave you off the lists if you request it. But, we can't guarentee you anonymity.

7 - What will you do with our song if we participate?

Your song will be checked for quality, as well as for completeness. If it passes all the tests, it will be moved into the playlist, and when the gods of randomness deem it, your song will be played. The quality checks are to ensure that there was no data corruption during the file transfer, as well as there is no long soundless bits at the end of the file that can make people assume that the site has an error.

8 - Will you distribute our song if we participate?

No, we respect an artists rights, and therefor will not distribute what you have sent us to share to the world. We make every endeavour to make sure your property is as safe as possible. The files are all stored in a non-public location, and accessed from there when playing. We can't stop people recording their own copy through their players. But we make every effort to reduce theft of your works.

9 - Can we submit more than one song for participation?

Definately. Unfortunately our song submission form is standard assuming that people are only going to offer one song for our radio efforts. But the form is also used for sorting purposes and statistical information on how many submissions we get. But at the end of the day, you can submit as much as you want, or as little as your want. It is your work after all, so you are the ones in charge of deciding how much to send and what to send.

10 - What specifications are require to submit a song?

The software we use for playing the songs is rather pedantic. It requires the following specifications of the files:

Format = MP3
Bitrate = 128000
SampleRate = 44100
Channels = 2

Due to the rather fussy nature of the software, we prefer files to match that. The only one that is really important is the SampleRate. If the SampleRate doesn't match, the software will skip it. We have software that allows us to change the SampleRate and make it match what is required. But there is a lot of work required to do that. It is easier if it already matches. But if not, then we will convert it to the required specifications. The bitrate is set at 128K, if a file doesn't match that, it will reduce it if needed. This is mainly done for bandwidth issues. So that we don't run out of bandwidth, and so that they listener can still retain a decent quality even if they have a rather bad connection.

11 - We submitted a song, now what?

We don't guarentee that as soon as you upload a song that it will instantly be placed in the playlist ready to play. There is the email confirmation that we require you to do before the submission is even looked at. Then we do our quality control checks, we make sure that it matches the specifications to our software, if it doesn't we convert it to match our software. This can take a couple of days. We do send you a notication email that your song has been added to the playlist that you can start praying to the goddess of random shuffled playlists to hear your song.

12 - We changed my mind and we no longer wish to participate, will you honor this?

We would be disappointed, but if that was your decission, we would honor the request, and remove the song(s) from the playlist, and remove the file(s) from our server. We would hope that you would continue to support us.

13 - What if someone enters our track without our permission, what do we do?

We would remove the song(s) from our playlist, and remove the song(s) from our server. We would then start investigating where the inaccurate request came from by going through our logs.

14 - Are you making a profit from doing this, and do we get royalties?

The only money we make from this is from the advertisements on the site. We don't do this to make money, or to make a profit. So unfortunately there are no royalties to be made. The reason that we are doing this is to provide quality music to the people of the world, and to let the unknowns at least become known, even if only on one site.

15 - Will you have competitions like real radio stations to give away tickets to our gigs/concerts?

Doubtful, very doubtful. We would require tickets to do that. And we are not going to buy tickets just to give them away. The other problem with that is. We are not setting a limit on which countries can participate with us, nor which countries can listen to us. Therefor having an international competition would be a little unrealistic. And we like to live in the realistic world, sometimes.

16 - Do you want free tickets to our gig?

Most of us are social recluses that shun public contact. That would be inadvisable. But, we do accept autographed photo's of the band.

17 - We hate you, what are you are you going to do about that?

Not a lot. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and everyone has a right to voice it. We wish you luck in harrassing the next person who might actually get upset and make you feel better. Really, we prefer constructive criticism and critiques as opposed to just blatant hate mongering.

18 - This site blows.

You really don't have to be on it you know? Is it really that intelligent being somewhere you don't want to be? But as none of us are professional webdevelopers, if you think you can do better, then by all means, create something better, send us the code, and if we agree with you, we will implement it. Otherwise rather than just saying it blows, how about telling us how it blows, and what we could do to make it better. Just a thought.
